MEET TEAM TRENTHAM

Meet the faces behind the Trentham name…

As well as the members of the Murphy family involved in the business, the Estate employs dedicated and skilled staff for its
vineyard, winemaking, marketing and administration as well as the Restaurant and Cellar Door operations. The highly
professional team work hard to create the award-winning wines and superb experience that Trentham is known for.

ANTHONY MURPHY, MANAGING DIRECTOR/CHIEF WINEMAKER

Anthony graduated from Roseworthy College in 1978 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Oenology and began his winemaking career at Mildara Blass before establishing Trentham Estate with his brother Patrick in 1988.

In 2006 Anthony and Pat were nominated for Australian Gourmet Traveller WINE magazine’s ‘Winemaker of the Year’ award; the brothers were the first grapegrowing-winemaking team from an irrigated Murray region to be nominated. Another highlight of Anthony’s career has been receiving the Trophy for Shiraz at the 2008 International Wine & Spirit Competition.

PATRICK MURPHY, DIRECTOR/VITICULTURIST

Pat completed his schooling at St Patrick’ s College in Ballarat and with a long history of farming in his veins, continued his education at Yanco Agricultural College. Upon completion, Pat received a certificate in Farm Management, and he returned to apply his knowledge of viticulture to the vines of Murphy vineyards. Brothers Pat and Anthony were the first grapegrowing-winemaking team from an irrigated Murray region to be nominated for Winemaker of the Year in 2006.

NOLA MURPHY, DIRECTOR

Nola, wife of Anthony, is involved in many areas of the Estate, chiefly overseeing all Cellar Door operations and special events as well as product and label development, adding that special touch. Many of you will have seen her warm, smiling face when visiting! Nola and Anthony have three adult children, all of whom have been involved in various areas of the business over the years

SHANE KERR, WINEMAKER

Shane commenced as an Assistant Winemaker at Trentham in 1996, following six years of experience in the cellar and laboratory at local wineries Mildara and Stanley. Shane‘s long-time collaboration with Anthony Murphy – 20 vintages and counting – has helped to maintain the consistent quality and unbeatable value that has become a hallmark of the Trentham label.

DALE SMITH, CELLAR MANAGER

Along with Shane Kerr, Dale is Trentham’s longest serving staff member to date, beginning with the winery in 1996 as a junior cellar hand and now, after 20 vintages, he manages the vast cellar that he no doubt knows like the back of his hand. Dale’s specialised role in the winemaking process has certainly been of benefit to Trentham’s success, with his efforts seen in the early trophy-winning wines such as the 1998 Riesling right through to the current 2016 releases.

ANNE LUCAS, ADMINISTRATION MANAGER

Anne is another of Trentham’s long-time staff, managing all administrative processes including accounts, payroll, stock control, and order dispatch (and the list goes on!) over the past 15 years. As a true multi-tasker, Anne accomplishes this all without a hitch, keeping the behind-the-scenes of the business running smoother than a glass of ’05 Heathcote.

RENEE MURPHY, MARKETING MANAGER

The eldest daughter of Anthony and Nola, Renee has been working as part of the winery team intermittently for over a decade in between her Bachelor of Business (Marketing) studies and extensive world travels. Joining Trentham’s Melbourne office in 2015 as Marketing Manager Renee now oversees all domestic marketing as well as some export activities. Growing up around the winery and being a true country girl at heart, Renee has a terrific grasp on the family wine business and is looking forward to contributing her marketing expertise to the company.

REBECCA MARSHALL, GENERAL MANAGER - CELLAR DOOR AND RESTAURANT

Rebecca joins team Trentham with her a wealth of experience to take the Cellar Door & Restaurant into the future. Bec completed a Wine Marketing degree at Adelaide University after leaving school. Working in a few cellar doors in South Australia – she went on to pursue a career in events. From Wedding Coordinator at the Hyatt Regency Adelaide, Bec worked her way up to Catering Manager and then transferred to the Grand Hyatt Melbourne where she worked as Director of Events. Earlier this year (2019), Bec made a 'tree change', moving to Wentworth NSW. When she’s not at work, Rebecca enjoys getting out in the fresh air with her fellow teammates at the Wentworth Rowing Club. Bec looks forward to welcoming visitors to the region, and in addition, create an environment that locals want to come to regularly.

LOUISE COOPER, RECEPTION

The friendly voice you hear at the other end of the phone when calling the winery is none other than Louise, who will refer you in the right direction with your call or be more than happy to help arrange your wine order. You’ll also see her face in the Cellar Door from time to time. Louise carries out our administration tasks for the Cellar Door with the most careful attention to detail, and you can contact her with any enquiries regarding your Wine Club membership, too.
