Results are in for another year and we are thrilled to share with you our fabulous results from James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion 2020...
Remarkably consistent tasting notes across all wine styles from all vintages attest to the expertise of ex-Mildara winemaker Tony Murphy, a well-known and highly regarded producer. The estate vineyards are on the Murray Darling. With an eye to the future, but also to broadening the range of the wines in offer, Trentham Estate is selectively buying grapes from other regions with a track record for the chosen varieties. The value for money is unfailingly excellent. In 2018 Trentham Estate celebrated its 30th anniversary. Exports to the UK, China and other major markets.

2015 Reserve Tasmania Pinot Noir
A wine that shows its cool climate origins with brambly, foresty aromas and a grip of fine but firm astringency on the finish, but in between it's quite a juicy, generous offering. Ripe cherry flavour provides the fruit sweetness and there's a lick of French oak spiciness. The hallmark Trentham drinkability is very much in evidence and it's in the zone now.

2014 Reserve Murray Darling Noble Taminga
One of the stalwarts in this category and rarely misses a beat. Classic apricot aromas associated with botrytis and wafts of peach nectar and creamed honey fill the bouquet. Lusciously sweet on the palate, it may not be especially complex, but there's depth and richness to the flavours and some freshness of acidity to provide a counterpoint. 375ml.

2017 The Family Vermentino
This has all manner of fruits and flowers flying over the nose and through the palate, and represents both outstanding drinking and value as a result. You’d reckon there’s some fruit sweetness at play here but it works a treat.

2018 Estate Chardonnay
Bright stone fruit, crisp acidity, flashes of popcorn and fennel. The quality is above average, the price below. Everything here is in the buyer's favour.

2017 Estate Pinot Noir
Respectable pinot noir. Cherry, choc and orange-like flavours put on a lively display, spicy tannin then helping to bring it all home. Value is obvious.
